We offer support to families with young children and help them cope when life is difficult.
Our volunteers befriend families and offer valuable practical and emotional support to reduce stress. Support is usually offered in the family home with volunteers visiting a family once a week for a couple of hours. Some volunteers choose to support more than one family or visit a family and help with groups or the Contact Centre. When appropriate, visits may be at other venues.
We assist families with issues relating to emotional well being, living with a disability, ill health and parenting.
We provide two levels of training and ongoing support for all our family support volunteers.
Volunteering doesn’t only make a difference to the families we support but can be an enriching and fulfilling experience personally.
Contact Sarah in the Penrith office or Dan in the Carlisle Office, for further information on family support volunteering opportunities.
“The training I received as a volunteer was excellent & to be truthful, some of it was an eye opener to me. The ongoing support from the team is always there & nothing is too much trouble.”
